FAQ Printers - Zebra GX420T Network Configuration

The following steps are meant to assist users with Zebra GX420T network configuration.
- Step 1: Plug in the Ethernet cable and power plug
- Step 2: Insert the included network calibration labels (2X stickers can be substituted if desired).
- Step 3: Turn the power on and wait for the green light.
- Step 4: Press and hold the power button till it blinks twice (2).
- Printer will feed some blank tickets and then should return to a solid green light.
- Step 5:Printer will print a calibration label. Locate the IP Address on this print out.
- Press and hold the power button till it blinks once (1).
IP Address OK
If the IP Address is OK, skip to Set Up Printer in Windows.
IP Address Needs to be Changed
If the IP Address needs to be changed follow these steps.
- Step 1: Open a browser on the same network.
- Step 2: Type in the IP Address. This will open a web page.
- Step 3: Select Network Configuration. Password is 1234.
- Step 4: Enter the new IP Address.
- Step 5: Set IP Protocol to "Permanent". Submit or Save changes.
Setup Printer in Windows
- Step 1: In Windows go to Printers & Scanners. (In older versions of Windows, it might be referred to as Printers & Hardware).
- Step 2: Select "Add a printer or scanner".
- Step 3: Windows will search for existing printers. Once finished, select "The printer I want isn't listed".
- Step 4: Click inside button for "Select a shared printer by name". Click the browse button and select the correct printer. Click "Select".
- If you don't have a network set up then select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname". Click "Next".
- Hostname or IP address: Type in the IP address. Click Next.
- Windows will enter the port information
- Step 5: Windows will find the "Generic Network Card". This is correct. Click Next.
- Step 6: Select Drivers. Choose Zebra and then GX420T. If this is not a choice, you can either use the disk to install the drivers or pick "Generic Text".
After the setup has finished, if Zebra drivers were used, a test ticket can be printed from printer properties.
